In alignment with the theme for ASEAN 2020 “Cohesive and Responsive ASEAN”, the Young Entrepreneurs in ASEAN Member States – diverse as we are, economically, historically and culturally – will continue to bond together as a cohesive whole by our shared values, sense of community, responsibility and benefits, beneath the same roof. The ASEAN Young Entrepreneurs Council thrives towards accelerating regional integration and community-building among young entrepreneurs in the ASEAN Member States in the rapid and complicated changes in the regional and international environment. The COVID-19 pandemic has further demonstrated the importance of regional cooperation among ASEAN Member States in order to ensure emerge through this pandemic with an enduring cohesion.
2020 was of great significance for the world, with the outbreak of COVID-19 in all countries, causing major economic consequences. Exports and imports were "frozen", while international activities, such as conferences and forums, were organized via videoconference. The 5th ASEAN Young Entrepreneurs Carnival, hosted by the Viet Nam Young Entrepreneurs Association as the Chair of AYEC 2020, also was conducted virtually. This was the first time ever the online version AYEC Carnival.
The Carnival 2020, themed “Together we are making differences” with two hot topics of discussion: “Ecosystem & Alliance – ASEAN Young Entrepreneur future through strategic collaboration” and “Roadmap to the Digital”, demonstrated the spirit of cohesive and responsive, amid rapid changes in the region and around the world. The Carnival was the gathering event for Young Entrepreneurs across the Southeast Asia to embrace diversity and collaboration – economically, historically and culturally – and to share business challenges, exchange lessons learned and reassess the growth opportunities for the recovery period as well as the longer term.
The event welcomed 850 speakers and delegates from 11 countries joining both in person and virtually.
