Opening address by Deborah Melissa Bottreau
Chairperson 2025 & Founding Secretary General AYEC
President & Founder - MAYA
“This moment is personally very meaningful and deeply emotional.
The ASEAN Young Entrepreneurs Council (AYEC) was launched in 2015, right here in Kuala Lumpur, during Malaysia’s ASEAN Chairmanship and the ASEAN Business & Investment Summit. At that time, ASEAN-BAC saw the need to support the voice of youth in economic policy and empowered us to form this platform.
We worked relentlessly to form a council with representation from all 10 ASEAN Member States, each endorsed by their respective international trade ministries. AYEC was registered in Malaysia, incubated by ASEAN-BAC for its first two years, and today, we stand 10 years strong — back where it all began. What a beautiful, full-circle moment”
What started as a dream, as a bold step into the future, has now grown into one of the most important regional platforms for young entrepreneurs in Southeast Asia.
We are the Voice of Young Entrepreneurs in ASEAN and beyond.”

Speech By Political Secretary to the Prime Minister of Malaysia
YBrs Tuan Kamil Munim
"Half of ASEAN’s population is under the age of 35. That means our youth are not just the future, they are the driving force of today’s economy... it is your creativity and resilience that will determine how strong and inclusive our region’s growth will be."
"This network is proof that entrepreneurship speaks a universal language, the language of courage, creativity, and purpose."
"But one thing will remain constant, the value of entrepreneurial spirit: the courage to start, the resilience to continue, and the integrity to lead with purpose. I encourage every young entrepreneur here to embrace that spirit. Be bold, be ethical, and always build with a purpose greater than profit..."
